LACUSPA administers annual awards and scholarships to recognize the efforts and achievements of student affairs professionals and students across the state.

SCHOLARSHIPS


LACUSPA Scholarship Application Link 


LACUSPA issues scholarships to deserving undergraduate and graduate students who have exhibited exemplary academic performance, and a commitment to student affairs.  The Gold and Silver Scholarships are open to undergraduate students with campus leadership experience and graduate students seeking a Masters Degree in Higher Education or Student Affairs programs.  The scholarships are also open to Masters level students who may be studying a field outside of higher education, but are currently employed as a graduate assistant or student employee in a student affairs unit of a LACUSPA member institution.

Gold Scholar - $1,000 award and free registration for 2019 LACUSPA Conference
Silver Scholar - $500 award and free registration for 2019 LACUSPA Conference

Applications are due by 11:59pm on Friday, September 7, 2019 and will be reviewed by the LACUSPA Scholarship Committee:

AWARDS

We are excited to accept nominations for the 2018 LACUSPA Awards. Award recognition will take place during the annual conference luncheon, October 1, 2018 at Southeastern Louisiana University. In order to nominate someone for an award, please complete the following form. Nominations must be submitted no later than Monday, September 3, 2018 at 5:00pm. All award recipients must be in attendance at the 2018 conference.


Student Leader of the Year: This award is available to any undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled at any Louisiana institution of higher education during the previous year.  The award shall be bestowed to a deserving recipient that demonstrates outstanding achievement in promoting the ideals and principles of LACUSPA. Potential areas for excellence include academic achievement, community development, programming efforts, leadership development, university involvement, or other similar capacities.

Outstanding Graduate or Professional Student: This award is available to any graduate or professional  student who is currently enrolled at any Louisiana institution of higher education during the previous year.  All award recipients must be in attendance at the 2018 conference.The award shall be bestowed to a deserving undergraduate student that demonstrates outstanding achievement in promoting the ideals and principles of LACUSPA. Nominated individuals should showcase  areas of excellence include achievement, community development, programming efforts, leadership development, university development, or other similar capacities.

Rising Professional of the Year: This award shall be bestowed to a deserving recipient that demonstrates outstanding achievement in promoting the ideals and principles of LACUSPA. Nominated professionals should showcase dedication and excellence to the field in areas including, but not limited to, work with student development, service for their university, continued self-improvement, active participation in professional organization(s), collaboration efforts, innovation, or advising accomplishments. This award is available to any professional with less than five years of student affairs/higher education.

Nominated professionals should showcase dedication and excellence to the field in areas including, but not limited to, work with student development, assisting new professionals, service for their university, active participation in professional organization(s), collaboration efforts, innovation, or advising accomplishments. This award is available to any professional with more than five years of student affairs/higher education experience.

Program or Practice of the Year: The award shall be bestowed to a deserving nomination that demonstrates outstanding achievement in promoting the ideals and principles of LACUSPA. Nominated programs or practices should showcase core beliefs such as financial stewardship, inclusivity, response to current events/trends, collaboration, and overall impact on campus.

Dan Seymour Award for Outstanding Commitment to Student Affairs: The award will be bestowed for outstanding or exceptional contributions to LACUSPA. Examples include an extraordinary achievement, particularly high quality of work, a creative idea or innovation, etc. expressed in some action that as an exceptional impact upon LACUPSA or its membership. The identified contribution(s) may have resulted in a wide range of identifiable outcomes including, but not limited to, enhancing the organization or the profession. Nominators may be asked to prove evidence of the impact of the contributions of the nominee. The overarching principle in the review process will be outstanding or exceptional quality of contributions. All current professional members with five or more years of continuous membership in the Louisiana Association of College and University Administrators (LACUSPA) are eligible.
